Starpoint Gemini 2

Starpoint Gemini 2 lacks the complexity of "big" space-sims like Elite Dangerous and X series, but it's very approachable. It doesn't take hours and googling guides to get into it. So this game would be perfect for someone who is interested in the genre, but maybe is intimidated by how difficult games of this type can be to get into. One of the most satisfying things about SG2 is ship progression - from starting in a small gunship to finishing the game in a huge carrier launching squadrons of fighters or a Titan ship that can alone wipe out a whole fleet.

I can't believe I never posted a review for this game. Starpoint Gemini 2 is truly a gem. I was deployed and had a weird itch to just zoom around in space in a big ship with the ability to divert power to engines, shields, or guns. I know it only shows I played for 28 hours at the time of this review, but I was playing this back when we didn't have internet connectivity, almost all of my time played was offline (I truly have no idea how much time I have in this game). During a time that was pretty arduous, this was a great escape. Mind you, I didn't play the campaign, I stuck to free roam, swashbuckling various ships, upgrading my vessels, investigating anomalies, battling fleets, etc. The freedom I was allowed in this microchasm was something I sorely needed. This review isn't as much a "Is good game, here's why" and is more a "Hey Dev, thanks!" It's been a long time since I played and felt it deserved the attention. I don't know what it is, but just the thought of the ambient soundtrack after a battle and zooming off to another part of the map brings me a deep sense of enigmatic joy. The visuals are absolutely stellar, the combat feels good, and the UI is very comfortab…

This game is simple and fun. get your ship and grow from a minnow to a shark. it's good fun, and the workshop/community has some great mods that can enhance the experience.

This, game is a blast of fun just to pass the time.

Oh god, why did I even sit almost half an hour through this? I legitimately thought I was doing something wrong because the "speed" at which I tried to travel is super super slow. So you're just sitting there looking at the screen watching your ship crawl through space for genuine minutes with nothing happening. Riveting. Oh yeah, and the tutorial is crap. Saying it's the worst tutorial I ever encountered in a video game sounds like an exaggeration, but if I ever did see a worse tutorial it must have caused amnesia, that's how bad it must have been to be worse than this. Talking about amnesia, I shall now procede to delete this game from both my library and my brain. Good night.
