✦ AI summary

Myst III: Exile offers engaging puzzle-solving that some players find deeply rewarding and impactful, but others struggle with obtuse design choices like unexplained mechanics and tedious navigation through visually confusing environments. The game's main frustrations stem from unclear puzzle logic, lack of tutorial for certain interactions, and repetitive backtracking through lengthy hallways, though those who appreciate classic adventure puzzle-games and the story continuation generally find it worthwhile.

Initially fun, and the true puzzles are engaging, if often easy. But anticipate frustration when you're trying to find a hidden path in a chaotic, visually muddy, and often inscrutable landscape. Plan on having to stop and look in a full 360 + vertical on each and every step of each and every featureless hallway-- all of which take 10-15 agonizing clicks to get through every time you go back and forth through them. Several times I found myself lost because, despite almost nothing in the environment being interactable, some random and unremarkable trash is. As others have pointed out, the acting from the villain is great, even if his dialogue is a little awkwardly molded to fit an 'audio log' format that doesn't make a lot of sense. But that's not really enough alone. In the end, after finishing the surprisingly sho…

Few game endings have left as much of an impact on me as this one. Game's stellar overall too. A real joy to "solve". :^)

Utterly fails to capture the magic of its predecessors. It's filled with puzzles for puzzles sake that make no sense in the context of the world. It's annoying to play, and the chirping sounds of the animated creatures are annoying to listen repeatedly. I didn't care enough about the story to finish it. Play Obduction instead.
