I used to play games when I was much younger and then school was a priority, then working, and other adulting things; in short it's been almost two decades. So I chose this game on the recommendation of others since I enjoyed RPG's - having grown up on the Final Fantasy series, etc. I went in blind, not knowing anything about the Trails Universe. For me, I thought the game mechanics were cool (like the hybrid real world fights where you don't have to transfer over to a battle screen; their magic system) and the world and lore building that went into them. Unfortunately, I found the whole romance really uncomfortable & distracting. Honestly it felt like the writers were forcing this romance sub-plot into the story. From what I read, the romance doesn't die down so that's why I don't think I'll be getting the sequel. In addition, it also felt more "slice of life" which wasn't quite the RPG I was going for, some of the dialogue was kind of cringey, and I honestly got annoyed with the FMC. I kept having to remind myself that she's 16, but it seemed like there wasn't much character growth that happened for her. I think if you're into a light RPG with some slap-stick like…
