About Banebush

✦ AI summary

Banebush is a creepy visual novel where you play as Alexey, a man fleeing through a haunted village from his childhood that blurs childhood memories with terrifying folklore and supernatural horror. Its striking black-and-red aesthetic, branching story paths with multiple endings, and haunting dark ambient soundtrack create an unsettling atmosphere that brings nightmarish tales to life.

Banebush is a short and very red creepypasta in the format of a visual novel, inspired by scary tales.
Take on the role of Alexey, who is hiding from pursuit in a place full of ghosts from the past. The village, familiar to him from childhood, comes alive in his memory: terrifying grandmother's tales, carefree childhood days, and... an encounter with a nightmare lurking in the dark forest.🌳 Will you dare to step into the fairy tale if it turns out to be real? 💀
FEATURES:
  • Ominous black-and-red graphics that create an unparalleled tense and anxious atmosphere.
  • A nonlinear storyline with several different endings.
  • Mysterious and dark soundtracks in the genres of electronic and dark ambient.

✦ AI summary

Banebush is praised for its atmospheric tension, distinctive red-and-black visual style, and effective blend of fairy-tale elements with psychological horror that creates an engaging mysterious narrative. Players appreciate the creativity and passion evident in the project, though some note that the choice system can feel inconsistent, with seemingly important decisions having minimal impact while obscure early actions unexpectedly determine endings. The game appears well-regarded among horror enthusiasts looking for a story-driven experience with unique aesthetics.

Banebush has a fantastic atmosphere and does a great job of creating a constant feeling of tension and mystery. The unique red-and-dark visual style gives the game its own identity, while the story keeps you curious about what will happen next. I especially enjoyed the combination of a classic fairy-tale feeling with psychological horror elements. You can really see the passion and creativity behind the project, and I hope the developers continue expanding it because Banebush has a lot of potential. If you enjoy horror games, mysterious stories, and unique visual styles, definitely give this one a chance. Keep up the great work, developers!

a very well-made tale about the infamous banebush / leshy. i feel like reaching the different endings could've been handled a little differently tho. sometimes you'll get a choice that seems like it should matter, but barely changes anything, while doing something that seems completely irrelevant early on can suddenly change the ending drastically. i'm not gonna spoil anything because i actually recommend playing this if you're interested. also, personally speaking, i think the visuals are peak for this type of story game. i'm biased as ♥♥♥♥, though, because black & red is my favourite colour combo and both are my favourite colours.
