Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune

I bought this in antecipation for their upcoming game Parasite Mutant (I'm a huge Parasite Eve fan) and was pleasantly surprised. While it doesn't do anything original, what it does is pretty solid. Graphics and music are great, it controls great, the three characters are all fun to play as with their own weapons and skills. It is, however, incredible easy to cheese bosses with Ciara's long range weapons. Most bosses, even the post-game optional ones, can't withstand her gatling gun stunning their animations in place while you use the item that gives unlimited ammo for 30s until they're dead. Granted, you won't have access to this item for most of the game but once you do you're unstoppable.

It's been a long time coming, but an interesting platformer with anime inserts, lots of weapons, a crafting system and character personalization. Sometimes there are blunders with where to go, because without discovering something on the level, you can't go further in the story. Fans of platformers should definitely check it out.

Overall fairly decent, above average and worth playing for many people I'd say. It's quality is... not the best, but not outright bad or anything, it's a bit of a rough game in several areas, but for the most part they put in the effort to make sure the core of everything does work or feel ok, even if polish is clearly lacking in some areas. Exploration and world: Ok, the world is fairly large, bigger than you might expect. Decent few biome types. There are objects hidden around the map, some requiring an ability to get to, others walls to notice and break to find hidden goodies. There's a variety of environment types from water to dark to normal, to spoiler. A few puzzles and stuff along the way to solve as well. Overall it's decent, however... each biome is within itself, mostly the same, so room after room can feel a bit generic or samey at times. For the most part each biome or zone isn't full of good environmental story or subdivided areas or anything. And visually you don't find any "oh wow" areas while exploring sadly. As far as Metroidvanias go, this one is one of the best I ever played. Multipple characters, and okay story, cool weapons, armor, progress and exploration. Also, if you are those masochits that like to 100% stupid stuff, this game is also for you.

If you like metroidvanias buy this game immediately. I put it off for so long because it looked a little jank, and it is, but in the best way possible. You can tell actual passion was put into this game and the style makes me very nostalgic. Not to mention the RPG systems are great and deep enough to keep me engaged always improving, the story and cutscenes (yes, its a metroidvania with cutscenes) are very well done even if theres a few localization issues here and there. Im only 2 hours into the game but im already confident that this is a game worth playing.
