About shita ni

Shita ni is a surreal dream exploration RPG Maker game. Through the exploration of both beautiful and haunting dreamscapes, you will uncover the different facets of a young girl's mind. This game will not hold your hand. Instead, you will be free to investigate the mysteries of your surroundings at your own pace in whatever way you see fit.

Upon starting the game, you find yourself trapped inside a small apartment with no doors. The only way to escape this place is to traverse the vast landscape of your imagination. In this surreal walking simulator you will collect items, solve riddles, and find hidden secrets scattered throughout uniquely designed levels. Through the use of environmental storytelling you will begin to make sense of a young girl's lost memories, and discover a dark past.

Another good entry in the 'Yume Nikki fangame' subgenre. (I think that I found a place inspired by the backrooms.)

I haven't played through nearly all of what this game has to offer but I wanted to review it now that I've played for a few hours. This is probably one of the most expansive Yume Nikki fangames I've played, and I've played quite a few. You will have a lot to explore in this game! It's a fully fleshed out large game, which can be rare to find in this genre. The art style is very nice and the maps look great. I love how some maps are cute while others are really creepy. Every map has it's own mood. While I call it a fan game, this game introduces a lot of interesting gameplay mechanics that Yume Nikki didn't have and it pleasantly surprised me. I won't spoil any of it, but one thing I will point out is that instead of collecting effects, you collect objects which will open up more places to explore once you find where to use them. At least the first set of objects I've used opened up a new area (my favorite map in the game so far). I'm pretty excited to find a place to use some of the other ones I've collected and see what happens! I can't wait to see what new things this developer creates, they are very talented and creative, which shows through in this game. I really hope th…

Much better than I expected from a Yume Nikki inspired/fan game. I actually spent about 8 hours blind before using a walkthrough, even though I mostly play other games on 'Story mode' difficulty. The overall challenge and high difficulty aren't surprising, although few parts are really nasty, such as: 1. Few areas may expand or contain new objects after you do something else. 2. Few areas (e.g.
rainy swamp
) are very complicated, where I missed many objectives. 3. Some beings can force you to wake up. It's time-consuming if they appear in a very deep area. Despite that, I think I got around 70% progression within the first 8 hours. So it's not that insane, although I bet I would spend at least another 8 hours on the 30% I somehow missed if I decided not to use a walkthrough. Just like Yume Nikki, I can't really make heads or tails of what the main characters actually think or experience, even though there's overall less content compared to it. Anyway, I can recommend this game if you actually enjoy Yume Nikki or are specifically looking for a surreal exploration game that intentionally gives almost no help/hints.

As others have said, very similar to Yume Nikki. Definitely has a dark tone, and is fairly explicit if you manage to figure out the endings.

Definitley one of the best Yume Nikki inspired games!

Very good stuff, excellent on the audio-visual level. Despite their attempts to change that, it remains LuN's best work in my opinion. Way more creative than Yume Nikki though not as extensive. Clearly a labour of love and awesome dream exploration simulator.
