This game has never worked for me. Unless an update is made to this game, I don't believe it will run for you. Sometime in the first chapter the game will freeze and you won't be able to play it.
Is a old classic. Is old, but is a good experience. very hard.
Unplayable on modern systems, do not buy on steam
I originally played Age of Wonders on a Windows 98 PC over two decades ago, so coming back to it after all this time has been a fantastic trip down memory lane. Nostalgia was definitely part of what brought me back, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how well the game still holds up. The graphics and interface are undeniably from another era, but the gameplay is as engaging as I remember. Building your empire, exploring the map, managing diplomacy, researching spells, and fighting tactical turn-based battles all come together incredibly well. Every faction feels distinct, and there's enough variety to keep each playthrough interesting. What impressed me most was how timeless the core design is. Many strategy games from this period feel dated because of their mechanics, but Age of Wonders still rewards careful planning and experimentation. It's easy to see why it became a classic and laid the foundation for the games that followed. Returning to this game reminded me why I spent so many hours playing it on my old Windows 98 machine.
