About Clock Tower: Rewind

Turn back the clock for one of the pioneers of the survival-horror genre. Translated and released outside of Japan for the first time, Clock Tower: Rewind is a revival of the terror-inducing 16-bit classic that dares you to explore the haunting confines of the Barrows family manor. As teenage orphan Jennifer, you must search every disturbing corner to find items, reveal secrets, and discover ways to evade Scissorman, a murderous, unstoppable, shears-wielding psychopath.

Play Original mode to experience Clock Tower as it was when initially released in 1995, or play Rewind mode with extra content and improvements. Additional features include a new animated intro, opening and ending vocal theme songs, motion comics, creator interview, art gallery, border artwork, save states, and a music player. The clock is ticking...can you survive?

Key Features:
• The survival-horror classic, Clock Tower, officially translated and brought out of Japan for the first time
• Choose from Original mode or Rewind mode, which features numerous gameplay additions and quality-of-life refinements
• Run, hide, and survive as you attempt to evade the psychotic Scissorman
• Atmospheric 2D art, detailed animations, and haunting sound effects augment the tense point-and-click gameplay
• Multiple endings and randomized gameplay elements maximize replayability (and jump scares)
• New animated opening, motion-comics with VO, and vocal theme song performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
• Featuring an art gallery, music player, behind-the-scenes creator interview, save states, and other modern inclusions

✦ AI summary

Players praise Clock Tower: Rewind as an excellent horror game with strong atmospheric design, great music, and impressive respect for the original 90s title, particularly highlighting the new official translation and Rewind mode that adds fresh life to the experience. However, common complaints center on the janky controls that feel dated and awkward, especially cursor movement, which players often work around by switching to mouse controls or relying on the Rewind feature to recover from control-related mistakes.

The pop-up issue is STILL THERE! Absolutely unacceptable! And for a game that came out originally in 1995 with SNES mouse support, the mouse is sensitive as hell and unusable, I didn't see any options menu in game to change the sensitivity at all. As someone who 100% the PS1 First Fear Edition I am thoroughly disappointed.

Clock Tower is noteworthy as one of the few horror games made before Resident Evil that is actually worth playing. If you don't believe me, feel free to try out Alone in the Dark (the second one is especially bad), War of the Dead, or total junk like Overblood. However, one difference you will notice immediately is that rather than being action or survival-focused, the original Clock Tower uses point and click gameplay. As a result, the game can feel rather slow, with long stretches of nothing happening. While subsequent games would speed things up quite a bit, the first game probably still holds up the best, thanks to the well drawn 2D graphics and lack of terrible voice acting. Rewind includes two main modes: the original game, which as far as I know is the same as the SFC original, and rewind mode, which throws in a bunch of extra content from the playstation port as well as new rooms, puzzles, and chase sequences. There are also a few appreciated fixes, like finally being able to run while being chased on stairs! There seem to have been a few bugs when the game released but everything runs fine now from what I can tell. There are a few annoyances, like not being able …

Thoroughly enjoyed this game. The new additions brought in by the Deluxe fan patch, including the restored cut content and fully reworked chase system add so much to the game both gameplay-wise and content-wise. Every time you play through it’s a new experience. Definitely recommend for those interested in point-and-click adventures or classic horror.

Chilling game. Very good horror game!

It's a lot of fun, and was one of the fewer and fewer holes in my survival horror resumé. Though to be honest it is more of an adventure point and click than a true survival horror game. Some of the achievements pop too early though which spoiled some stuff.
Clock Tower: Rewind is a dream come true

Clock Tower has been a favorite of mine since the 1990s and it's finally out here with an official port+
This port+ is easily one of the best I've ever experienced. It pays such beautiful respect to the original game that everyone has been waiting for that changes nothing except for finally releasing a translation of it that many fans have been waiting to officially see instead of fan patches, the Rewind mode's twists and turns are amazing at breathing fresh life into one of my favorite games of all time. The bonus art and music player are a delightful bonus for everyone as well as the bonus videos and comics. _________________ ❥ Accessibility Accessible game that needs very little improvement for accessibility for most players ❥ Audience/Difficulty No variety in difficulty settings but classic mode is an easier more straight forward experience and Rewind mode is a harder mode for more seasoned players. ❥ Bugs ☑ No bugs encountered ❥ Graphics (Accounting for different art styles) ☑ An actual masterpiece Frankly, I find this game to be an actual masterpiece. It's beautiful. ❥ Gameplay ☑ Fun ☑ Well paced ☑ Meant to be…
