What Steam players say

Players praise the game's unique atmosphere, creative concept blending old-school and modern design, satisfying weapons and gore mechanics, and compelling episodic storytelling that leaves them eager for more. However, common complaints center on technical issues including rapid flashing effects causing eye strain, inconsistent enemy AI behavior, a broken eating-for-health mechanic, unbalanced boss fights with limited resources, and lack of graphics options and proper controller support to address accessibility concerns.
Game seems great, at its core. However, I personally find it hard on the eyes and wish there were more graphics options to play with to alleviate that. Additionally, this needs proper controller support with better mapping.3 found this helpful
Very impressive for a single dev game. Having your boomer shooter arsenal as well as a variety of spells is a lot of fun, even if some shine more than others. Excited for episode 2!1 found this helpful
I love this game. It's amazing, fun all the way through. The only complaint I have is sometimes the soul siphon and eating bodies is just so hit or miss. I find myself scrubbing my face against fallen foes, spamming R2 or spamming X in an attempt to regain some mana or hopefully get some health back. But besides that this game was amazing from beginning to end. Absolutely worth picking up if you love retro shooters. So for that I give it a 9.5/10. Update: Finished the game. The ending was so peak. I did notice that the struggle of eating/siphoning souls seems to differ depending on the level. On some levels you can eat and soul siphon without any issues and others it's outright impossible. Now that I've finished the game I'd like to say it was AWESOME. I can't wait for more, and I'll be buying it as soon as it comes out. Considering this is just episode one I'm so hyped for the future. I wish there would've been more bosses in this one as the final boss was so freaking cool. Final verdict: You should definitely pick this game up if you like retro shooters. I've played tons of boomer shooters that don't really innovate or do anything inspiring but this? This was awesome. It's def…

Solid boomer shooter. The only thing it is lacking is a map feature and it has various save points instead of a dedicated save system like in classic games. The combat has bits and pieces of almost everything you've ever played and is incredibly functional: Jumping, dashing, hold-to-cast, projectile physics, explosions, bullet time and an interesting mana system where you use corpses to either heal or refill your spells. The level design is outstanding and has both classic doom and serious sam vibes at times. The only bad thing I can say is that the weapon variety could be better. 5+ hours, much longer if you are into exploring and finding secrets. Worth the price in EA right now. Can't wait for more content to be added, but even if it isn't still was worth my time/money. 8.5/10
