Nystagmus is a first-person indie horror adventure that builds its experience around isolation, exploration, and the uncomfortable feeling of being hunted somewhere unfamiliar. Developed and published by LGDC, it follows an engineer who travels to a remote island in search of his missing fiancée. His situation quickly becomes more dangerous when his boat breaks down, effectively trapping him on the island. Escaping requires finding the necessary repair materials, but leaving without discovering what happened to the person he came looking for is not really an option. This combination gives the player both a practical objective and a personal reason to investigate the island. The game is primarily about exploration rather than fighting. Moving through dark locations and searching for useful items gradually exposes more of the mystery, while danger prevents exploration from feeling completely safe. One of the most distinctive warning signs is a strange blue light associated with the hostile presence stalking the area. When danger approaches, the player's options are intentionally limited. "Nystagmus" is a basic asset flipped first person horror adventure game, one of literally thousands of first person horror adventure game asset flips infesting Steam. And, just like Nystagmus, these asset flipped first person horror adventure games have little to no value as games, especially when compared to honestly and professionally developed products. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic.
