Summer in Mara Prologue

"Summer in Mara Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Summer in Mara". Summer in Mara is a console ported Stardew Valley ripoff with shallower storyline and shallower gameplay... ostensibly a failure for those reasons. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Summer in Mara, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Summer in Mara Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out an eye watering TWENTY UNITED STATES DOLLARS on the developers console port here on Steam, and I don't recommend that you do that, either. Sadly it might be one of the worst games i played. Art is good, but graphics are ass, Npcs are boring, you don't get attached to any of them, nor remember their name, they are blanc. Instructions are never clear, be sure to have google on the side to see what you need to do now, in this big but empty town, having to run over to a place only to find out you need something else, but nothing tells you what it is or where it is. Have fun figuring out what to do, i don't even think there is a Goal in this game afterall. Instead, play Stardew Valley perhaps... Or, really, anything else.

My fully XBox-compatible controller doesn't work. The game is unplayable with keyboard and mouse. Cannot collect carrots at the very start of the game. And something else - I remember this studio bombarding with spam ads of "Mika and Witch Mountain" kickstarter on facebook so aggressively, that I decided not to buy that game when it gets released. Now I got mildly interested in "Summer in Mara", but after founding out that it's the same studio which uses shady marketing techniques, I'm not giving them my money.

A really cute game. The graphic style is pretty cool and the overall gameplay nice as well. The video at the end was pretty nice as well and made me curious for the main game. All in on i can highly recommend this Prologue
