The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-

I saw literally every bit of content, and none of it was worth it. The game is tedious and poorly written. Apparently these guys only know how to make one game, and they still haven't learned how to write an ending. Intriguing at first, like most of their games, but stumbles quickly and never recovers. Not one of the mysteries goes anywhere satisfying, and very few are actually interesting. Combat is easy, simple, and tedious, and even the skip mechanic makes you watch all the dialogue between each wave. That really sucks when you're doing the same handful of battles over and over. Characters are stale and two dimensional. Every mechanic seems to exist to waste your time, because Kodaka hates himself and the world because he's a weak little ♥♥♥♥♥ boy.

Best visual novel I've ever played. As with any visual novel, there's basically no difficulty or gameplay, really. The characters initially grated on me because of the weeb archetypes they follow. But, as you move through the stories, some characters grow on you and others fall out of favour. I think I've going to keep up with it and try to see all 100 endings. I took a short break after about 25 endings to beat Mina the Hollower out of spite (I didn't enjoy it). I'm at a point now where I think I could comfortably put down 100 Line for a couple weeks and pick up where I was because of how engrained the core story beats are for me now, and I'm just enjoying the side stories. Definitely worth playing (reading) at least to experience the endless twists and turns.

Last Defense Academy leans very heavy towards the "Novel" side of "Visual Novel". There is a lot of reading in this game compared to the Danganronpa series and Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. It's also a very long game since there are many different routes, each with surprisingly different plots and arcs. I wondered why there wasn't a "skip seen text" option like other visual novels with different routes, but it's because most of the text is unique between routes. Ironically, it's the gameplay elements that have the option to skip. The main gameplay element is a Fire Emblem-like battle system where you defend Last Defense Academy from waves of enemies. The interesting bit is that, when your units get low on health, you can sacrifice the unit (for the remainder of the fight) in order to use a powerful "Last Resort" attack. So unlike in Fire Emblem, where you want to keep your favourite units alive, Last Defense Academy rewards you for throwing caution to the wind and going on an all out attack.
