Gearbits

Another instance of "What you see on the store page is what you get." It has a few rough points and I encountered the occasional very minor spawn or scripting hiccup, things like that. But all in all a very heartfelt little game.

Gearbits is a game i am still actively playing but love dearly. It is a love letter to armored core, gundam, and the mecha genre as a whole, with retro psx/lowpoly models, charming sprites, and a decent story. The game performs well on virtually any machine, and is incredibly fun. Its challenging, but replaying failed missions with new builds is the key to success.

I have bought both the base game and the Raider Expedition DLC. I personally recommend getting both. It's a comfy, though moderately difficult, mech anime game made by a fan who enjoys the genre. Its style and simple systems feel reminiscent of old macromedia flash games but made in a more modern game engine. Simple bullet pointed review of base game: - Played all missions of the base story mission with starter mech and got all achievements: 8.1 hours of gameplay. - Very few customization options. You choose your mech and 3 weapons (1 hand, 2 back) and must make sure your weapons fit the budget of your mech's carry capacity. (And you might have an extra weapon on your mech.) - The primary differentiation between mech playstyles is their boost speed and cooling systems. You are also able to toogle between hovering quickly on the ground and flight (jump jets).
