About Sea of Stars: Sunset Edition

✦ AI summary

Sea of Stars is a modern turn-based RPG that seamlessly blends pixel-art exploration with tactical combat featuring real-time button presses, combo attacks, and strategic enemy-weakening mechanics—all without random encounters or grinding. It delivers nostalgic 2D adventure charm alongside inventive storytelling, full co-op support, and relaxing side activities like fishing and tavern games that respect retro classics while rethinking them for today.

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun. Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding. Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement. Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games. Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production. There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

great game with enough story and gameplay to feel full but not bloated, and it feels like a modern take on chrono trigger with its own great gameplay and fun story.

I don't get how this game can have such high reviews, while beautiful and with great soundtrack this is probably the worst game I have ever played.

I've never played this kind of a game before and I loved it! It has amazing soundtracks and visuals. I really wouldn't imagine loving a pixel game this much. Although I played pretty slowly, it never bored me. I'd buy anything these guys make from now on. A small feedback tho, I know the "true ending" is an optional ending but you know once we invest this much hour to the game true ending feels like the last piece of the puzzle and collecting every each Rainbow things in the world + doing all the quizes felt like a boring chore at the end. I wanted to do it by myself but anything like this design will just push the player to look it up on the internet and avoid wasting more time so I suggest stay away from this kind of chore to present a "alternate ending" to the player. Thanks.
