FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles

Had it for PS1. Considered it a cute afterthought to FF7 and 8 at the time. In 2026, I find the game completely unbearable to play for an array of reasons: They never fixed the camera angle, so you're constantly pixel hunting from a 4 view isometric 45 degree camera and you can't see crap half the time. The level and job system has never been good. FF5 was much better but not available in the US when FFT came out so most people didn't realize how bad this particular edit of the job system was. The worst thing about this game by far is its protype for the enemy scaling which proved to be such a blunder in this game and then in FF8 that they abandoned the concept. You spend 20 hours growing what you think is an acceptable party an then have to restart the whole game because your party actually sucks. I don't have time for that for a nostalgic game in 2026. Idk, if you loved it then, its the same, no more no less. If you're new, don't bother. There are so many better newer games that fixed the problems with this one.

The original Playstation 1 Final Fantasy Tactics is what got me into tactics turn-based games. Love the job class system. Fan of the story. One of my favorite games that I return to play every now and then. Love it.

This is the best Final Fantasy game. The political stuff going on in the background of the story is very detailed, and is basically a retelling of the War of the Roses, so if you're a history buff, you'll get a kick out of that. The job system is super detailed and lets you make very unique characters with some pretty OP builds possible - especially for your wizards. The remake gives you higher resolution sprites, voice acting (I know how to say Beoulve now), and a lot of other quality of life improvements. But it is a 20 year old game. Fifty bucks is pretty high. Definitely worth it at $40 though.

Pretty faithful remix, been waiting long time for this one actually and it didn't disappoint!
