About Twinland

Twinland is a Metroidvania set in a kingdom full of weird creatures, dangerous dungeons and powerful artifacts. You play as an average guy who once fell asleep at his office desk and somehow warped to this mysterious land. The first 'person' he met there was a talking sword stuck in stone. So the would-be hero grabbed this weapon (which happened to have some shape-shifting abilities and aversion to human touch) and set out to explore Twinland 'cause he had nothing better to do anyway.
  • Do traditional Metroidvania things: fill the map, fight the bosses, expand your abilities to gain access to new places and carve your path to one of multiple endings
  • Choose between two different set of arms, then improve your skills as either Magician or Gunner by leveling up. It's a run and gun game at heart!
  • Play a role: choose between acting friendly and showing strength in certain situations and make other choices that affect both your character and the world around him
  • Explore side content: hunt rare monsters, borrow books from the library, catch and train pet bugs, play mini-games and try to survive in optional dungeons
  • Try NG+ (-ish) mode: look for certain 'tools' on your first playthrough, then use them to modify your next run in many different ways

A metroidvania hidden gem for sure. Is full of secrets and multiple endings.

Wasn't enjoying this. The level design just reminds me of some of those less-revered super nintendo games where nothing really clicks in a satisfying way. It seemed competent to a degree, but I don't recommend it.

Twinland is an extremely underrated metroidvania game. It's a wild, secret filled adventure, that doesn't hold your hand, which is honestly how all games should be. When first opening the game, just speaking truthfully, the first 10 minutes initially felt like a bit of a slog, because of how it just completely hits you in the face with its difficulty, some of it might just be down to not knowing what is an enemy projectile etc. Is it a falling leaf or an owl feather. But you eventually get completely used to everything and realize how much love and effort was put into the game and that its not as difficult as I initially thought, it's not easy but it's manageable. There are secrets galore, damn, so many secrets, I was pretty confident I'd find them all, but I have genuinely had a hard time, it seems to me that there's a huge amount I've yet to discover. The visuals do look a little dated, and some of the visual effects aren't doused with some of the more modern polish you see in todays pixel art games. But I think that adds to the charm of the game. There really is just so many secrets by the way, I keep remembering how crazy they are as I think about it. I was lucky enough to ge…

Very nice game, but kind of hard. Great music. Please fix steam overlay and controller support.
