The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Square Enix...THIS is the kind of game you've been pretending people don't want anymore. It's like somebody looked at classic Zelda and old school Final Fantasy, threw them in a blender, and somehow didn't screw it up. The combat is fantastic because almost every weapon is actually viable. Imagine that...a game where you don't spend thirty hours collecting gear just to discover 95% of it is vendor trash. My personal favorite? Chain and sickle with bombs and fireworks. Nothing says "hero" quite like solving ancient puzzles...then turning the next room into a medieval Fourth of July. The Magicite customization is addictive. Every new ability had me thinking, "Ooo...what kind of ridiculous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can I build now?" That's good game design. Give players toys and let them break your combat system in creative ways. And the exploration...Jesus Christ. I usually ignore half the collectibles because I'm old enough to know that 100% completion is just unpaid labor. But this game kept whispering, "Bet there's something cool over there." Unfortunately, this games lacks so much. The controls are great - other than that .. it's horrible. Story is a 2/5, Graphics are a 3/5 and the anoying fairy is a 0/5. It does not catch me .. tried so hard.

I don’t usually feel compelled to write reviews for the games I finish, but [i]The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales[/i] resonated with me more than I expected. At its core, the game is about hope: the idea that even when things seem lost, there is always a reason to keep moving forward. Elliot embodies that message well. He begins as a seemingly ordinary adventurer with a simple desire to help others, but that selflessness gradually pulls him into a much larger journey involving ancient mysteries, different eras, and revelations about his own past. What I especially liked is that the game rarely treats hope as empty optimism; instead, it repeatedly contrasts it with despair and shows how both can shape the choices people make. The cast is another major strength. The characters are likeable, distinctive, and generally given enough personality that I genuinely wanted to learn more about them. Some characters spend less time accompanying Elliot than I initially expected, but their absence is noticeable precisely because the game does a good job making you care about them.
